The colors were both from sample oops paints at Home Depot, .50 cents each! The top and drawer fronts are a flat paint used as is. The body is a cream flat mixed with a royal blue enamel I had left over from my bed makeover.
Sorry about the pic color. The first picture is the true colors. |
I wasn't sure what knobs I wanted to use so I just used what I had. Will probably change them later.
I used a natural wax from MinWax but felt it needed more depth. So I mixed some brown paint with a little wax and it gave it a soft glow and antique look after some painful buffing. I've got to get a buffer attachement for my drill. *_*
Here is the before of the mirror, good thing I already had it on file as I had completely forgotten to take before pictures. LOL!
So here again is the 2 before's and the after.
And here she is in my still unfinished bedroom.
Hope you all have a good week. I hope I'll be able to finish another piece of furniture this week. Keep a look out for the upcoming. . .

Barbe,
ReplyDeleteI am totally loving this transformation. I want to do all of my bedroom furniture similar to this . But I think it may have to wait until next spring as I have so much to do now and with Christmas coming and colder weather, it will have to be the first project of next year. Thnaks for the inspiration!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Hi Debbie,
DeleteThank you so much, I love the way it turned out! I'm trying to get as much done as possible before our weather gets colder; still in the low 90's for now. I figure I have about 2 more weeks!

The colors look absolutely stunning on your dresser. So soft! I want to paint my guest room furniture but haven't gotten my nerve up. Did you paint in place? I try not to ask my husband to move anything. While I know he doesn't mind, I still have to hear the groans and see the facial expressions he gives me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gail, I'm really happy with how it turned out. Yes, I did paint it inside, in the livingroom on the coffee table. Living in an apt. sometimes call for being creative in painting. LOL! Plus I have a bad back and knee, so moving large pieces outside gets to be very painful. I did paint the drawers outside in my parking space as they were easy to move.
DeleteThat's nice you consider your husband and even nicer he's willing to do it for you. : )

Hi Barbe: I love the new look you gave your dresser--beautiful shades of blue! I wish I had your blog about 11 years ago when we were renting, but I didn't even know what a blog was back then--how times change!
ReplyDeleteI just love the color you chose on this last makeover ( I have many pieces that have been done even more than 3 times lol ) beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteYour newest follower - would love to have you follow back when you have the time :)

I love the way it turned out! Great job! I also love your premise for this blog. There are so many times in apartments/houses that you can't change anything Grrrrrr! I can't wait to read what you do to get around some of these restrictions. Vanna
ReplyDeleteVery pretty....such beautiful shades of blue!
