Well don't despair. There are many ways to get around the restrictions and limitations and I am here to share the ways I've overcome them over the past 18yrs.

Final Frugal Treasures Features!

Yes, you read right!  I'm discontinuing the Frugal Treasures party.  I so enjoy all of your projects and visiting your blogs to see whats new.  But because of health issues and life, trying to keep up with the party has gotten to be to time consuming.  I started it because it looked like it would be fun and it was!  But visiting all the links and picking the features each week is taking energy I just don't have to give.  I've realized I haven't been putting much time into writing for my blog, which is a source of comfort and release for me.

I will still be visiting each of you on a regular basis; connected to most of you through emails now so I can keep up.  I hope you'll still come by each week for a visit.  I'm hoping to use this time to get more of my projects completed and be able to share more of my home, tips, and thoughts with you all.  Thanks to all of you for your support these past 6 months.

Now for this weeks features . . . guess what . . . its EVERYONE!!!  That's right, I'm ending the party with a bang and all of you will be featured. : -)
My favorite this week goes to Alderberry Hill for this adorable Sweater Pumpkin!

Frugal Treasures Tuesday #23

I took a road trip up the coast with some girlfriends this weekend so no projects to share, . . . yet!  But the scenery was awesome!
Its party time again!  I'm so looking forward to seeing what you've been working on or what great frugal thrifty score you've found!  My plans for this week is to makeover my antique dresser and mirror so keep  your eyes open.  I'm so excited I've found an Annie Sloan distributor here locally.  Though I like my diy chalk paint, at times I just don't feel like mixing it up.  This will be my first time using ASCP so eager to see if all the hype is true; truly hope so!  I may also have a final reveal on my bathroom!!!

Now on to:

Here are the rules:
  1. Link up your projects, recipes, makeovers, thrifty finds, recycles, etc!
  2. Link to your actual post and not your blogs home page.
  3. Please be courteous and add a link ( my button or text) to your post so others can see it and find the party.  The more the merrier and it will help our party grow.  Necessary to be featured!
  4. If you haven't already, I'd appreciate if you'd become a follower.  Leave a comment and I'll follow back.
  5. Feel free to add up to 3 links.
  6. Let's remember this is a party, so do some mingling and visit at least 2 of the links.  If you leave a comment, they may become your new follower. -_^
Have a wonderful week and remember to show your family and friends love; tomorrow is not promised! : )

Frugal Treasures Features*

Well its a new week and you've all been true to form with your talents.  It gets more and more difficult to pick features each week.  First let me apologize to all who added my button only to have it disappear from their blog later in the week.  I'm not sure what happened but I have since fixed the problem.  So feel confident and grab a button! :  -)   Now I'll start with the one which you made most popular with the most clicks.
This would be Debbie-dabble for her Pretty Bathroom

Decoupage Teapots Surprise!

Happy Weekend!
I've been sluggish on getting any of my projects completed. Today was actually a great day for it weather-wise as our temps dropped a good 10 degrees! But I just couldn't get the energy up to take the furniture outside. This is definitely one of the challenges of living in an apt with no outside area. At least with a patio, I could leave it outside until finished during this time of the year. Oh well, maybe whenever I finally find a new place . . . : -(

On the positive side, I did finish this small project that I had started about 5 months ago!  Crazy huh . . . but I'm sure you've also been there before. -_^   This post is heavy with pics so get the coffee going before you start. : )

Crafts on the Quick!

Hello, and how's your day going.  Me, I'm still waiting to find out about the big news! -_^  Until I do, I'm avoiding starting any big projects as once I get started don't bother me! lol  So I thought I'd share a couple of my quick projects.  Let's start with the little wooden slat planter I showed on an earlier post.

   BEFORE
AFTER
So what do you think?  Def an improvement.  I love the punch of yellow to bring in the summer.

Frugal Treasures Tuesday #16

I've decided to take inventory on some of my larger projects.  One is this tv cabinet turned pantry turned curio cabinet. lol  I've removed the slats in the upper doors to replace with glass inserts.

Then I primed and painted it.  Still need to wax and possibly embellish it.  Plus I need to add another shelf and overhead lighting.

Doilies - Not Just 4 Grandmas!

Happy Monday everyone.  Boy do I have a treat for you.  I can imagine the title of this post already brought a question mark to your thoughts.  Is the pic below what came to your mind when you thought of doilies; don't think so.    Isn't this lovely?  Well get ready to be blown away (in a pleasant way) as you go on a tour in the world of  Doily Dea's, Handmade Doilies and Crochet Jewelry!

Frugal Treasures Tuesday Features!

Welcome and Happy Monday!
I've decided to do the features from last weeks party in a separate post.  The Frugal Treasures link party will be up tomorrow evening!  So lets get on with the features.

Once again you've all have made my job very difficult in trying to pick only a few links to feature each week.  You're just so talented and amazing.  So as usual, I'll start with the link which received the most clicks:
Congratulations to Peggy over at  Crazy Thrifty Crafts for her post on 'Garage Sale Tips'!  I love that so many took the time to check it out.  Her tips were simple and to the point and as a long time regular in having yard/garage sales, she was on the money.  One tip I can use now that my health has changed was in getting a young person to help you out.  Plus they can make money by selling a few of their own things.  Genius!!!

Frugal Treasures Tuesday #9

Hello, and a happy spring day to you!  Well, I'm afraid I didn't get to my projects this week; out of town guest came early so had to put things away until next weekend.  But I'm so happy my BFF is visiting and I hadn't seen her in 5 years!!!  But so much for my joy and on to the features from last weeks party.
The link which received the most links this time goes to:
Jo Knows of  Woman in Real Life.  These beautiful goblets from Dove Pottery is only one of many great finds.  You need to check out the full post to see her other finds and also the goodies her daughter scored!

Jenni of Abandoned Antlers really scored when she found this beautiful tureen!

This beautiful amber glass candle holder is from Thrift Score!  I just love the color and if you look close you can see the beautiful earrings, also.

Carlene of Organized Clutter is Ms Green Thumb with her beautiful houseplants and her post is a great read.  This isn't the pic she used in her link but I had to share it.  Is this cute or what?

If you want to add some zing to a simple blanket or other project, check out Petals to Picots .  She shares the tutorials to make these too!

You won't believe what Sherry at Decorating With Cents made this from.  And the final full project is inspiring!

Are you hungry and want a quick tasty dish!  Vicky at Decor & Harmony shares her recipe with tutorial for this delish shrimp and salad.  Yummy!

I really love that we had such a great variety of links, keep them coming.  If you were featured, feel free to grab my new featured button from the side bar.  Thank you all for sharing.

Frugal Treasures Tuesday #4

Well, I finally finished my bedframe, you can find the before shots here Bedroom Makeover Updates. I was very happy with the results and just one day before the delivery of my new mattresses!  I started by removing a plaque from the center, you can see the mark below.  I then primed and stenciled a rose swag using spackling paste.  Then I painted with a gloss royal blue paint I bought years ago from BigLots

and went over it with homemade chalk paint recipe from No Minimalist Here  using my wall paint (if you missed that post just click the Bedroom Makeover link at the beginning of this post) and then did a little distressing and waxed.   I used Johnson Wax to finish it; smelled so bad, pew!!!  Can't use that one again unless I can leave it outside all day.  Here is the before:

The before with plaque removed.

This is after primer and first coat of paint.

Working on the footboard.

And this if the after.  I love how she looks.
But imagine my disappointment when the new mattresses were delivered yesterday and they didn't fit!  Aaarrgh!!!  The frame is wide enough but the rails are too short. : (
Ignore the curtains, they're still up from the old look.

A close-up of the rose swag I stenciled on it!

Apparently, this queen set is a little larger than the usual size.  So for now, my new set is on the floor until I find some rails that will fit.  Will definitely be checking the thrift stores this week.
You can see the rails sitting behind the headboard; only 3 inches too short. *_*  So this is where I'll be sleeping tonight, but it will give me time to sew my bedding and window treatments. : )  Now on to the featured links for the party!
~Frugal Treasures Tuesday~

The link with the most clicks goes to Vicky at Decor & Harmony !  She shows how you can use what you got to get what you want!  Look at her knock off creations using chalk paint!  Great job, Vicki!

Sherry at Decorating With Cents brightened up her kitchen with these cute lamps!

What a fun way to set a spring table.  Maria Elena @ Our Home Away From Home created such a cute, fresh, and yummy look.

Sarah at Alderberry Hill was so imaginative in making this cute little shamrock tree!

Frugal Treasures Party #3

It's Par-Tay Time!!!  I want to thank everyone who made it to the party last week and thank you all for your patience with the delays.  You've all really been busy with some great projects.  I found many new followers through the party links and many great blogs.
Here is what I completed so far this week.  You may remember my Painting Dilemma post about the little table which had the bubble effect on the top after priming.  Well, after many helpful suggestions and tips from you readers, I decided to just try sanding the top some more.  Happily, I was able to get rid of the bubbles, but still wasn't as smooth as I had wished.  But I decided to leave it as is and just go for the paint.

This was also my first try with the homemade chalk paint recipe I got from  No Minimalist Here.  I so love Chalk Paint!  It did take me a bit of mixing until I thought the texture was right.  I wasn't sure if the measurements were for dry or mixed plaster of paris.  But I went for after it was mixed and it came out okay!

The second batch I mixed for my bed frame came out even better, but that's for another post! -_*  The paint color is Behr Petal Bloom with a few squirts of Plaid FolkArt Enamels acrylic paint in Berry Wine.  The acrylic paint gave a little more depth to the pink which matched my fabric choice better.  I then did a wash with a glaze of antique white and then added some trim colors to go with the chair it will sit next to.

Bedroom Makeover Updates

Hello and happy Sunday!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  My weekend was pretty productive and I finally got started on my bedroom makeover.  First I painted the main wall a beautiful robins egg bluish color (Valspar - Lake Country).

After that I painted my bedframe, this is only the first phase of it.  Here is the before pic:

Here is the after pic of my bed and below it the inspiration I found for it.
This pic shows the wall color more true!
I found this inspirational french armoire on Pinterest from Paint Me White
I love the dark undertone in this paint technique!

What To Do When It Rains

Good Morning All!
Well, we've had a couple of days of much needed rain here in Central California so that put a pause to my painting projects.  Since my apt doesn't have a garage, I had to otherwise occupy myself.  So . . . I thought I'd share with you some of my other crafty endeavors I've worked on of late.  I bet you didn't know I also played with and was as addicted to textiles as much as I am paint! lol  I have so much yarn and fabric that I need another armoire just to store them. -_^   I recently started crocheting more often after I discovered the tutorial videos on YouTube!  Bazinga!  I was off and running again.  I've learned so many new stitches and have even started developing my own patterns!    I made these hats and hair scrunchies for my granddaughters who live in 2 different states.

Welcome to Frugal Treasures Tuesday!

February 28, 2012

Hello fellow bloggers!   I'm starting my first Linky party - Frugal Treasures Tuesday!  You'll find the instructions and link at the end of this post.  For my first frugal treasure, I'd like to share this pole lamp and barrel-shaped lamp shade! I found the lamp a few years ago at my favorite thrift for $3.99.  The lamp shade I found last week for 79 cents because it had dents in it. But I knew when I finished with it they wouldn't show so jumped at the deal.

So first I tackled the lamp shade, which proved to be harder than I remembered; hadn't used a glue gun in a long time and finger tips are still sore! *ouch* lol  You see, I had made over a lamp shade before, but that was with white rose buds!  It was beautiful and came out so well.  Unfortunately, it was crushed beyond repair in my last move. : (  As for my supplies, I bought my flowers, hydrangeas,  from the dollar store which were inspired from this page off a calendar I bought at the 99cent store.
