WELCOME

WELCOME!

So . . ., you've finally found the perfect place, lots of storage, nice size rooms, all the extra amenities. But, then you're told "no painting and no making holes in the walls"! You feel all your decorating plans going out the window. What can you do to make the space your own.

Well don't despair. There are many ways to get around the restrictions and limitations and I am here to share the ways I've overcome them over the past 18yrs.

I hope you enjoy my tips and will also share your own. I'll also be sharing some of my on going projects. Once again . . .
WELCOME!!!

Frugal Treasures Tuesday #11

Happy Monday one and all.  It's been a long week and busy, enjoyable, and refreshing weekend.  As I said before I had to take a break on my projects, but did manage to start my makeover of this cabinet.

I added just a few pieces of my collection of blue and white.  I love the contrast of the yellow and white fabric in the background.  The cabinet color is really more the shade of butter when its been whipped, an oops can of Valspar Satin finish from Home Depot for $5.00!!!  Today I'll add the shelves and the bottom doors and then repair the top doors.  They had the stationary slat doors (no movement) and I want to either add glass or chicken wire.  I'm really leaning toward the chicken wire as it will bring out my rooster collection even more, but I like the idea of less dusting with the glass. LOL!  What do you think?  This is what it used to look like.
You can see I had already removed the slats from one of the doors.  I left the bottom the same just painted.
Above is before I removed any of the slats from either side.  Since they weren't functional I was crazy about them and wouldn't miss the change.  Hopefully there will be a full reveal by the end of the week. : )

Now on to the features from last weeks party.  I must say it never ceases to amaze me the talent and creativity you all have.  I'm just so inspired and honored you choose to share your projects and return each week.  Thank you so much. : )
So your favorite this week by means of the most clicks goes to Crazy Thrifty Crafts for her adorable washstand makeover.  Some of you may remember the before was featured last week!

My favorite for the week is this cute craft cabinet built by Iesha at The Uncluttered Lifestyle.  She made this for under $20.00!

Joann at Woman in Real Life had a fun day with her son and scored some treasures.

Kim at Bradford House Consulting made this cute planter for her patio table .

Donna from Distressed Donna Down Home took some old baskets and created these. . .  isn't the color gorgeous!  Love it!

Here is a recipe for a great summer salad from Woven Home, yummy!
If you've been featured, please feel free to grab a button from my side bar! : )  Now on to the party!

  2. I came over to post two of my bird designs this week. I was surprised and delighted that you featured my little Paris buckets. I have proudly displayed your featured button on my post! Thank you! By the way, I love what you are doing with the cabinet. I had one with decorative slat doors - all it did was gather dust!

  5. Barbe, All I can say is beautiful! I love the yellow fabric with your blue and white pottery. I think the chicken wire would be really cool, but may get dusty. Whatever you choose will look fabulous. :-) I can't wait to see the final transformation. Have a great night!

    1. Aww! Thank you Sharla for your kind words. I love the idea of the chicken wire, too. But with so many pieces, I'm not looking forward to all that dusting. lol Have a great evening. : )

  6. Barbe - you've outdone yourself this time my friend. : ) The updated look on the cabinet is fabulous! The chicken wire would look great, but I agree with Sharla - it may get dusty. I'm not sure it needs doors as they will cover up the gingham print behind the shelf area... IMHO : ) Hmm... you're inspiring me to paint something... Hope you're doing well. Miss you!

    1. Hey Lady,
So how's it being back home? Hope health is behaving itself. : ) I miss you also! I've found painting to be quite satisfying though sometimes painful from the need to haul the pieces outside. *_* I know the door will cover up some of the fabric background; would love to just leave it open. But with the glass panels in the doors and the lights I'm adding inside, I'm hoping some of it will still show. -_^
